At the age of nine, Kaze awoke surrounded by flames. The intense heat and bright fire frightened the child for he had never experienced such a disaster. Instinct took over and he ran strait for his parents. The doorway to his parents’ room was blocked by flaming debris. Continuing to panic, Kaze tried to push past the blockage. This attempt left his arms scared. Once inside the room the sight of two burned corpses stunned the child. Shaking his head in disbelieve, Kaze fled the house.

Kaze stood, with tears pouring from his eyes, staring at the house as the flames shot up into the night sky. The next morning ashes were dancing around from the rhythmic gusts of wind. By midday the wind had stopped leaving the child with nothing. Kaze began to dig through the remains, looking for spare cloth to cover the burns to his arms. After a successful search he struggled for hours attempting to bury his parents. After nightfall the child was finished and traveled to the nearest town.

After speaking of the horrors he had witnessed a friendly family offered to care for the boy. If only he were more capable he could have saved his parents. This thought continued to plague Kaze. Day after day he tried to make himself stronger. But strength alone would not save anyone. Soon he began to research on how to improve himself. If only he were a ninja, then he would be capable enough to save a life.
